The Best Game Plan for your internet Marketing Business

Does your game plan keep disappearing from day to day, and getting replaced with the latest trick? Here are some common lies that are being promoted on the internet. Do you believe this internal dialogue?

“The best marketing plan for my business is one that gets me lots of followers on Facebook”

“The best marketing plan for my business is one that brings me traffic.”

Okay. That’s a good start. Let’s go on.

“The Best Marketing plan for my business is one that actually makes me sales, already!!

…you’re getting warm…

“The Best Marketing plan for my business is one the makes me Money, for crying out loud!

Partially true…read on…

The Best Marketing plan for my business is the one that actually makes me a profit…

…you’re almost there…

“Sue, what are you talking about? You don’t think it’s important that I make a profit”?

Let me explain–

If you get lots of people who:

  • like your product,
  • follow you on Facebook, Twitter Instagram…everything
  • and who visit your website

and who even buy from you
but
what you spend in:

  • advertising
  • webhosting
  • software
  • “opportunities”
and other expenses—-if those expenses are deducted, and they actually DO bring you a profit, then you still have some math to do…because…

it really isn’t profit if your time isn’t paid for.

So. Let’s say that you make 25,000 a year in PURE PROFIT.
Let me ask you something….is the time you invested in making that money worth more than minimum wage? Because, if it is, then you didn’t even make that.

See, a lot of marketers are very good at bookkeeping, but they live in this carrot-on-the stick fantasy world.

They may not measure their success (like so many marketers do) in terms of social media activity, traffic or even sales, because they have been around the block, so to speak, and they have learned that it isn’t what you make, it’s what you keep (after buying leads, paying for ads, etceters.)

But one thing that almost every marketer struggles with is putting value on their time.

A lot of marketers are retired, on disablility, or just self-employed. So they don’t figure in the value of their time, because they just think, I’m not doing anything else with my time right now.

But time always has value, no matter how much of it you think that you have.
We would never hear of someone underselling their product because they have too much money on their hands. Yet marketers consistently undersell their product because they don’t factor in the value of their time, when they go to price their product.

You need to see the value of your time the way that a physical shop owner would price his “overhead”. You may not have the mortgage, lights and gas to pay on a separate building, you may not have inventory to account for, but you can be sure, if you are an internet marketer, you spend plenty time on your business each week.

And what a lot of marketers fail to do is to track the time they actually spend on their business, not taking into account basic things like creating a post, checking their stats, ect. All of these tasks are YOUR TIME that you are INVESTING in your business. You need to account for that when you figure out your profit margin.

What should I sell online?

crossroads

What to sell on the internet

A lot of people asking this question aren’t asking it correctly. When they ask “What should I sell online” they really mean, “What item is consistently searched for online?” It’s not the right question, and I’ll tell you why in a moment. But first, here are what I consider to be 3 of the best sellers online. They are:

  • Books
  • Cameras
  • Specialty items

It’s this last list that really has potential. When you find the right market, or niche of  a market, you avoid fierce competition and can carve you way into the market place.

Which brings me to that question you need to be asking. Don’t find out “What sells the best online” but rather, what CAN I REALLY sell online.” In other words, you need to ask, what can I sell online without being a giant like Amazon or Alibaba. And the answer is, specialty items. But. Not just any specialty item. You need to know which item has the best balance of low competition and high demand (that’s called a niche). And you need to know that, it will probably be somewhere in the middle. In other words, if it’s fairly popular (which it should be, if you want a serious income), then it should have some competition.

In my internet marketing program “How to Sell Anything Online” I show you exactly how to find a niche market that it is profitable, but not too competitive.

Then, we cover the basics of promoting your product, and selling it right on the internet. Yes, that’s right. You will learn step by step exactly how to collect payments online, right away. No information overload. No exhausting, high tech ecommerce pages. From choosing your product to collecting orders, I send you out of the gate running,

What does it mean to be an internet marketer?

An internet marketer is just someone who markets, or “sells” on the internet.

That is the most simple definition.

Marketing something could also be defined as presenting something in its most positive light, and helping someone else sell it.

For example, if you had a degree in marketing, you could find employment as an in-house marketer for a company; you would help design their sales ads, you would help them position their product in the best possible light to produce sales.

But you wouldn’t actually be selling anything.

This same definition of marketing applies online and offline.

So, yes, you will find people making money online who aren’t actually selling anything.

Usually, these are “affiliate marketers” though there are other ways to make money online without actually selling anything.

Most computer “newbies” are mesmerized with the thought of making money without actually selling anything.

They are kind of dazzled with the idea of snapping a couple of buttons and making some money. They don’t quite know how it’s done, but they’ve heard it can happen.

What they are probably referring to is someone who “made it big” in affiliate marketing.

So what is that? what does it mean to be an “affiliate marketer”?

It’s simple…sort of. You market someone else’s product, and then you get a commission for everyone who buys. It’s sort of like selling shoes…as a shoe salesmen.

Now, obviously, to make a whole lot of money, you should be selling your own shoes, for your own company. But. Not everyone can do that because owning a business requires, time money and knowledge.

However, with proper training, most people can sell shoes. I’ve sold shoes. I absolutely loved it. Do most people make a lot of money selling shoes for someone else? Um…no.

However, if you had a website that advertised other people’s shoes, with a link to their store, and you got a lot of traffic to that website, then you could make money every time someone clicked on that link, or that ad. But again, you would need a whole lot of traffic and good marketing.

Still, it could be done.

Well, a lot of people are very good at driving traffic to a website. And they have a lot of friends. And a Facebook account. so they have no problem getting people to check out a product that they are promoting for someone else.
